Second Chance Champions is the inspirational story of a group of athletes as they embark on a journey to the World Transplant Games, in Perth WA, to attempt to win a medal in their chosen sports. The Games are a competition like no other, all of the athletes taking part have one thing in common, they have either given or received an organ via transplantation. This year, if the contestants win a medal they will have a chance to split it in half and share it with their donor or their donor families to acknowledge the incredible gift that has allowed them to create a dual legacy . In 2023, the competition was held in Perth, Australia and 2800 athletes from over 46 countries descended on the city to take part. The film takes an intimate and candid look at the athletes as they set out to achieve life-affirming goals for both them and their donor.
